Kingsley eventually freed all of his slaves and married one of them, Anna Madgigine Jai Kingsley, and the couple had together. After Zephaniah Kingsley’s death, Anna Kingsley ran the plantation until her own death. Today, the plantation is open to the public and features a museum, an educational center, and restored buildings from the plantation era.
