Upgrade to the Cooper S motor, however, and drivers get a bump of 40 horsepower and 47 lb-ft of torque, delivering even more enthusiasm and energy.
The terms “MINI Cooper” and “go-kart handling” are forever linked, thanks to the Hardtop 4 Door’s compact frame and spritely handling. For starters, the Cooper is notoriously nimble. Its strut front suspension and multi-link rear suspension offer an enjoyably stiff ride and help prevent body roll. Its four-wheel disc brakes feature ABS technology and work to bring the Cooper to a standstill swiftly and safely, making stopping almost as fun as sprinting off the line.
More Than Just Extra Handles
The Hardtop 4 Door configuration is a full-fledged practicality upgrade compared to its 2 Door sibling. The 4 Door has been lengthened by more than 6 inches, which pays dividends in both passenger volume and cargo capability. Backseat riders benefit from their own doors to access their row, and also receive 1.5 inches of extra legroom, making longer journeys even more comfortable in the Hardtop 4 Door.
The boot also sees a significant expansion in the 4 Door, with a whopping 47% increase in cargo space due to the lengthened body. That makes even more room for everyone’s belongings and expands the maximum cargo space to an impressive 40 cubic feet with the back seat folded down. The wheelbase sees an expansion, delivering more stability while still offering delightfully nimble steering.
