Which MINI is Right for You: The Countryman or the Clubman

When you come to the MINI brand for your next vehicle, Jacksonville Beach and Fruit Cove drivers can always expect to get world-class engineering, high-level performance, and a distinct aesthetic that has no equal. That said, not every MINI is the same, as each one is expertly constructed to fit a specific set of needs. In the case of the MINI Cooper Countryman and the MINI Cooper Clubman, both vehicles expertly represent the brand in the same way but offer a different set of strengths. Simply put, Saint Augustine and Riverside FL drivers can't go wrong either way, so the decision is entirely based upon you.

The Case for the MINI Cooper Countryman

The MINI Cooper Countryman is a subcompact two-row SUV that comfortably sits up to five people. You have a range of high-performance engine options to choose from on top of superior ride quality and a driver-friendly fuel economy. Its cabin is upscale, and you'll get a healthy number of standard features even at the base trim level.

Performance

The Countryman comes standard with a 1.5-liter turbo-three engine that is mated to a six-speed manual transmission and a front-wheel drivetrain. This powertrain gets a performance output of 134 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. All-wheel drive is available and opting for it swaps out the transmission for an eight-speed automatic.

From there, the Countryman can be outfitted with one of three engine upgrades:

  • 2.0-liter Turbo-four: 189 Horsepower, 207 Pound-Feet of Torque
  • 1.5-liter Turbo-Three Plug-In Hybrid: 221 Horsepower, 284 Pound-Feet of Torque (Available on S E Countryman ALL4 models)
  • 2.0-liter Turbo-Four: 228 Horsepower, 258 Pound-Feet of Torque (Available on John Cooper Works models)

Interior

The interior of the Countryman constructed from the finest materials that exude a luxury feel. Leatherette upholstery is standard, though you have the option to upgrade to genuine leather options including the high-end Chesterfield Leather with diamond pattern stitching.

In terms of cargo capacity, the Countryman is quite flexible. Behind the back row, owners and lessees from Palm Coast FL and Daytona FL will have 17.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind the back row. This figure becomes 47.6 cubic feet once you fold it down, though you can configure your storage solutions in a variety of ways thanks to the 40/20/40 configuration of the flat-folding seats.

The Case for the MINI Cooper Clubman

The MINI Cooper Clubman is also a subcompact vehicle, but it is a car rather than an SUV. It also has two rows and sits up to five people, and its main strengths lie in its superior handling, an upscale interior, and spacious cargo capacity.

Performance

Two engine options can be equipped on the Clubman. The standard option is a 1.5-liter turbo-three that is paired to a six-speed manual transmission, which produces a performance output of 134 horsepower. The second engine is a 2.0-liter turbo-four that gets a different power output depending on the model. The Cooper S Clubman gets 189 horsepower while the high-level John Cooper Works Clubman maxes out at 228 horsepower.

Design

The Clubman features Mini's world-famous interior styling and overall quality. Soft-touch materials line the cabin, and leatherette upholstery is standard. Chesterfield leather with diamond pattern stitching is available, and LED door projectors add a distinct level of luxury. One of the most distinctive aspects of the Clubman is the split rear doors that are equal parts functional and fashionable.
